any way to get emails to find when bands are playing in your area?

Try looking up the one's you go to frequently/local venues to see if they have an email newsletter or way to add them on facebook since venues will post every time a show is booked. Also, many bands have email lists as well that will give you info on tour dates, new albums, video releases etc.
