I got my first ink shortly after I decided to have a mohawk. I got my third tattoo last night. Was wondering if there is tendancy for people who have 'hawks to have ink as well.
I'll post some pictures of my new ink this weekend.
I got a few tats thus far.... strange that I have so many reservations regarding cutting my hair but none when it comes to indelibly marking my body. The more I get, the more I want though... doesn't help that I'm incredibly picky about what ink I want and that most designs end up being very linear. For some reason this bugs the hell out of most artists as they have trouble making lines perfectly straight. Currently looking for something to put on my forearm... either inside or outside.... not a lot of real estate to work with so, sadly, it may take a while.
I wonder now about piercings... or other body mods in general. Is there a connection between 'subversive' hair and other alterations? Are mohawks a 'gateway' step like pot is supposed to be, leading to ever more extremes? LOL
Any student types are welcome to steal this idea as a thesis or grant idea.... just don't forget to slip me some cash for 'research'. :)

I was kind of wondering about the 'gateway' link as well. At any rate, I think both 'hawks and tats are a cool look. I'd like to get my sleeves inked next, and then start on the back.
I'm an engineer by profession, and I also like the 'linear' look. A lot of advanced math is nonlinear, though. My tattoo artist even remarked about my 'hawk and ink. Apparently there is link between highly mathematical minds and certain design patterns. Perhaps that's another reason I like the 'fan' look of a mohawk. Very nice geometric shape.
Now, back to my calculus, differential equations, and nuclear physics... :).
shit man i get that tooo... i love geometric shapes but suck at math n such... and stencil art i got an anti swa on my hand (hello jobless life) and was bitchin during the ink to "get it fuckin perfect" lol. n e way i m considering the crass logo and my family crest next. as for mohawks n ink i think i agree with sonic architect there are some simalarities but not alot .............sorry for teh spelling.
I don't think they are connected personally. There are many non-mohawkers that have ink done and there are some mohawkers like myself with none. I think a more plausible connection might be that people with intense mohawks or punks etc are more inclined to have more extreme ink perhaps or put it in more visible areas. People who have mohawks are more un-inhibited about what people think usually. At least that is my opinion.
I have been wanting to get a couple done this summer. I have thought about them for years but have a phobia of needles and such but lately this is subsiding. I may consider a third one as well but for now I just wish to get one each on the top of my hands.
The more I think of this topic...the more it intrigues me. *strokes chin all philosophical like*
Since early childhood I've been deeply fascinated with both tattoos and Mohawks. I currently have both and so far my only regret is waiting as long as I did. I love my tats and I love my Mohawk. I did both because of drives from deep inside.
