I'm watching / listening to 'Rain: The Beatles Experience' on PBS. I was a teen in the early 70s and enjoyed the Beatles a lot. I even remember their 1st appearance on 'The Ed Sullivan Show'. I was only anout 6 or 7, but I enjoyed them tremendously. Their music was surprisingly diverse: some silly, some serious, always well done. Watch this program if you can.
Another creative group from that era that I enjoyed were 'The Doors'.
I'll have to pull out some of my old (but carefully stored) vinyl and take a trip back in time. I have all original vinyl albums of both groups....
The Doors are one of my favorite classic rock bands, I grew up listening to them (the only station that my parents listened to was a classic rock one outta boston :D ) Its awesome you have all their vinyls! My mom and dad have a few combined but I want more lol

I remember Ed Sullivan getting upset over the Doors 'Light My Fire' as performed on his variety show. He thought the lyrics were too sexually suggestive (this WAS 1960s television - sitcom couples slept in seperate beds...). The Doors promised Ed Sullivan they would revise the lyrics for the live proram. They didn't, Sullivan got angry on camera, and they were never invited back.....
BTW, Rosie O'Donnell is no Ed Sullivan (or Sonny and Cher, etc.).
Haha i remember my parents telling me this... I believe it was Morrison didn't edit "girl we couldn't get much higher". Good for him though breaking the rules to create change is refreshing every once in a while xD

That was the line Morrison refused to edit. The song was really pretty innocent considering what's airing today.
BTW, 'All In The Family' was heavily criticised for using the word 'Damn'. And the first time 'Gone With the Wind' aired on TV, Rhett Butler's famous line, 'Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn' was edited out for the television audience.
Times have certainly changed.....
