Should I grow out the back first?

So I cut off my hawk last November.... bad idea. 

I was lazy and just got mad and cut it off.

But now I want another hawk. Its been a few months and my hair has grown kinda long.

The problem is I got a haircut 2 months ago and the guy blended my hair up so that the top of my head is a lot long than the back of my head (about an inch or so longer).

I really want a hawk back now, but should I wait for my back to grow more or just get it and have a uneven mohawk?
