Mohawks Rock

I want to get a mohawk but I don't know where to start. I have really thin hair and I don't know how hard it would be to maintain or if it would look like shit.

bite the bullet! mine started off short (about 2 inches) so as it got bigger I got time to practise, it's proper easy once you get the hang of it

I think thin hair is perfect for a mohawk. It would be easier to put up :) But I'm also going to agree with Alex. Just go for it if you want to! But if you are nervous, when you shave the sides, you don't have to cut the sides too short and leave the hawk long to see what it looks like, and change it from there. And as for where to start, just go through some of the pictures on the site, they're a great resource. Find a photo of hair you like and bring it to whomever is cutting your hair. I didn't do this for my mohawk, but it sounds like a great idea- some people on the other forums say that french braiding a row down the middle of your head is the easiest way to see if the lines are straight/even/centered and on top of that, it's easier to shave the sides :)

Good luck!

whatever you do, it'll look awesome!  But yeah, you can start longer on the sides and work your way down as you get more confident.  I started with it reletively long at the sides (a number 4 in UK terms) but after a while I wanted to go shorter and keep taking it shorter each time now
same here, I started off with the barber cutting it down as low as possible without clippers then over the space of about a week I'd got my mate to shave it to zero
Its just hair! It grows back ;) Mohawks looks good on most people, I find its rare they don't flatter the wearer. As for having thin hair and maintaing it over time you'll learn how to style your hair to suit your hair type. It will take some practice but youll get to used to and you'll love it!
my hair is super thin and yea it actually makes it easier to spike and just go for it mohawks always look cool haha
um i use got2b glued gel and got2b freeze spray
i always find that gels are too heavy and make it flop or compress and shit like that. Straight hair spray holds like a rock, but takes longer. I always feel better about my mohawk when I use just spray, but normally I use gel cuz I have no patience
