Mohawks Rock

Okay so my hair is curly not like an afro, but like when it's grown out I have a ring all around my head. This isn't a problem, I still get my mohawk up. I was just wondering how many of you guys straighten it up before you actually put it up. I've also heard of this weird way of putting it up where you apply the hairspray and then straighten it up, but I heard it ruins your hair and the straightener. So would straightening before make a difference? I always end up with this little finger width size curl at the very very bottom of my Mohawk by my neck. I was also wondering how to get that part to stand up better, it never stays quite right.

id bet its way better to straighten the hair bfore you put it up rather than put it up and starighten it with the hair spray..When i had a real hawk i straightened it and then used my products and i was ok
straighten your hair and use gotabe glued spiking spray..nd the spray is good because the less water the less curls you know
NEVER straighten your hair after putting product in it or while wet it will fry the shit out of your hair. If you have to straighten it do it before you style it.
Yeahhhh... I straighten my hair first. It's so fried already that I find straightening it before is enough. My man likes to spray his and straighten it up, and it is wrecking my straightener... It makes the sides sticky and then hair sticks to the edges and breaks x.x
i straighten before i style.

Hey Boogle....you have straight hair to start with correct? So, after you wash it, do you get it basically dry, then run the straightener thru it before putting any products on it, then spray the products on after you have "straightened" it??

my hair actually has a bit of a wave to it. its straight but it will wave in awkward areas or not be wavy enough to look pretty lol :P

pretty much after i wash it, i put a bit of mousse in it, blow dry with my hair upside down brushing it straight, and do a little bit of straightening to touch up.

then i add hairspray... I'll sometimes straighten after i hair spray but thats only if i really need it, i turn down the heat and i never hold the flat iron on my hair for too long.

I found straightening it before made it more difficult to stay upright, since it made the hair softer.  Also, I burnt mine once 'cause I tried to straighten it after putting on hairspray - bad mistake! :)  Burnt it brown too in a patch.
