Strange enough,
I work in an office, and they're pretty open to my tattoo's, and my hair.
In fact, whenever I get a new tattoo, everyone likes to see it...
same with when I change my hair. My managers all talk about their younger days, etc.
I'm paying my way through school by working at a hospital (administrative support). When I had bright red hair, that was actually acceptable and I didn't need to wear a wig. I believe things are changing [slowly]; I see doctors every now and then exposing arm sleeves, and residents with large plugs in their ears, etc. Not only that, but I believe a red "punky color" is pretty much the only one you might be able to get away with in a work place.
I now have a bright red/black mohawk. Since it's noticeably bi-colored and I didn't want to push things too far, I wear a wig now. You can easily find a realistic one through ebay for $20, shipping included.
I'm also a research assistant. Another thing, academia doesn't care.
So, yeah.
Work anywhere; don't let your style dictate what jobs you can and cannot have--wear a wig if you have to. Don't think you're limited to working some shitty retail job just because that's the only place that allows blue hair or something.

If it's not a hassle, could you show me one, if you happen to stumble across it? I've been looking, and can't find one...
My grandmother is getting married, and she is flipping shit about my mohawk
