Mohawks Rock

I'm wanting to dye my hair turquoise and tip my 'hawk (probably more fo' than mo; right now don't hates me) with pink kinda like this, but with the pink a little higher up...
and a brighter colors like this:

I've usually done just one color on short hair or streaks and didn't mind colors bleeding, but I really want to keep the colors defined and separated, anybody got some good tips? I'd be very appreciative and will post pics of results. Plan on doing it next weekend. Also any suggestions on dye brands or bleach? It's been a while since I've totally bleached my hair. Thanks for any help.

40 vol. bleach. Do the pink first. Wash it out then do the darker color. (it would be much easier to do the dark color on the tips on the lighter on the bottom but....) Use a brush and go slow. Tie up the pieces as you finish them to keep them from getting mixed up. Good luck.
It would be easier to do it reverse, but I want it the other way, I gotta be difficult :)
So you're doing pink tips?

I always do dark base, light top, no worries! Haha.
Usually I just separate my hair out (almost like pony tailed liberty spikes) and tie it off at the top where I want the light color to begin (and you can cover the tips with petroleum jelly). (usually I just keep an eye on the length of what I'm tying off - starting at the bottom of the elastic to the end of my hair and try to keep that all a similar lenght for visual consistency.
Then color the darkness (which can sometimes be difficult, depending on how long your hair is. Then rinse, away from the light/blonde tips. Then slide the pony tails down to the start of where I sectioned it off to keep them as close together as possible. Then color that. Yep!

OR. Color your hair entirely before hand (a few days, weeks, however). Then bleach the tips and color them right after. Less moving of things around and one step for what seems like something waaaaaay more complicated than it should be.
Er, as far as bleach I only ever buy 40vol, but they sell different strengths depending on how dark or light your hair is.

Hands down, my favorite dye to color with is Special Effects and Raw. Don't be afraid to let your color sit a few minutes extra under some heat!
thanks, that is how I was thinking of doing it, with the ponytail/spikes. I *want* to use Special Effects just because I think fishbowl and cupcake pink are closest to the colors i'm imagining, but i might have to do manic panic cuz i can find it locally and cheaper.

I use to use l'oreal quick blue and 40v developer. I have really dark brown hair so 40v is a must. Although I have read that using a 20v a couple times make your hair hold semi-perm. dyes better/ longer...
