That NWO thread made me wanna make a thread about Satanism, hopefully it'll educate some people. Do any of you guys know what it actually is? Are any of you Satanist? Do any of you fear Satanists? Discuss.

I can fear extreme irrational behaviour when it becomes threatening. But I rationalise this to delusions caused by the mind(s) involved since there is no repeatable, testable evidence to support supernatural forces.

The point that a supernatural force requires your permission before it can have power over you seems incredibly hard to accept except if it's all in the person's own mind. Many folk-tales have these sorts of 'rules' that are irrationally childlike in nature. It's what's told to control folk or put fear in them.

Why would some words uttered, or what you think in your mind give power to a supernatural force? It reminds me of the film Candy Man where the bad spirit is meant to appear if you look in a mirror and say Candy Man three times.

I wonder if in a few thousand years if ppl will believe that film tale is true - after all, the writings about Satan and the Bible have only been around for a few thousand years, with the various Bibles being put together over the last thousand years or so (and still being amended to this day; passages removed, rewritten and put in with each edition & translation).

Most people in the world didn't know about Christianity until a lot more recently - it took time to spread. Remember, it is various versions of books based on a lot of tales and writings mashed together.

All these beliefs are man-made, you won't find the same ones in different countries if you go far enough back in history. Apart from maybe our nearest star being worshipped, that big gas-ball! ;)

Back to the other views of Satanism described by Brian V below, it reminds me of hedonism and utilitarianism. I don't see anything to fear in that, it seems quite reasoned - though a confusing name.
I accept you and four other people saw your friend behave in that way - there's nothing dillusional about you and the four others seeing someone whispering and writhing around until a cross was put to her forehead.

IMHO, I'd say your friend's mind went into a state of behavoir to match 'possession' and 'exorcism', not that they were actually possessed by something unseen/supernatural. Much like when someone under certain drugs can behave in extreme ways or like hypnosis, where people perform in the ways they know they should even though they don't consciously think they have.

I do agree that there are things in life that haven't been explained yet, though. But I think supernatural explainations also are also unexplained explanations - if you get what I mean. =) They're a connection made to something without evidence for the connection or the things they are meant to connect to. And only based on peoples word.
..that is the basic philosophy of the Anton LaVeyian Satanism.
I read the Satanic bible as well as the Christian bible, and while the latter was full of bed time stories and miracles from an all-power all-loving god that well decides not to help.
The Satanic bible is really a philosophy book and I was impressed about how it was portrayed (keeping in mind that if i m not mistaken LaVey wrote it when he was 16).

I was once close to declaring myself Satanist but really I dont give a shit about religion because its what slowed human progress down.
yep
Satanist don't bother me a bit. They are basically hedonistic atheists, though it is generally a better idea to refer to oneself hedonistic atheist, if for no other reason then that you don't get retards questioning your goat-slaughtering abilities. Pretending to be a Satanist is also quite useful in getting rid of JWs. They figure if you're just an atheist, maybe they can convert you, but if you're a Satanist they just silently walk away.
my gf claims to be a satanist
and some of my ex best mates in secondary school were heavily into it
none of them have a clue tho and its really pathetic tbh
Age 13-17 I was. Then I realized "G_d" was not a real enemy. Or real at all.
What specifically did you wanna know?
I've read some of the satanic bible, and my general thought I took away from it was to self-love and self-worship. The rituals are kind of the off shoot or extreme part of it. Sets a mental tone. But that's what I feel from what I read.

My personal feelings is that in most cases it's an attempt to shock others and those whom say to follow it actually have no idea what they're talking about. They just want to piss off mommy and daddy. The few who have knowledge of it, don't go flaunting it.
Ah hell. Back then you could pretty much tell by looking at me that I was fucking Satanic. About as easily as you can spot a fucking mormon. I practically went about with black candles i my ass. But the only line I drew with the whole thing was at cutting myself for blood-I'd cut somebody else.
I made a badass spellbook, LONG lost.. Anybody else try Rituals????
I have read some of there bible but not all of it. My gf is a satanist. From the ones I have met and known I would say it is a religion for the week and scared mostly for people who need something to hide behind. but hey who doesn't? the book seemed contradictory granted I only read a few pages at random pointed out the contradictions to my gf and then stopped reading. that was way over two years ago so I dont remember much specifically. Ive never known a satanist worth respecting other then my gf but she doesn't go about trying to be shocking with her views so I find her mildly less pathetic. there rituals are stupid but my gf says they are only for the dumbest satanists anyway. I guess they just need more help lying to them self's

meh just my opinion.
