Mohawks Rock

Though it certainly seems a common theme, mohawks are not always synonymous with punk-rock fashion. Sometimes people do them as a creative way to show their commitment to a particular cause. I found this interesting article while randomly browsing the web this evening and figured I would share:

"10-Year-Old Sands Point Boy Bets on his Hair to Aid Cancer Research"

Personally I think this is fantastic, and a pretty cool way to have convinced his parents (and school!) to let him wear one, if only for a couple weeks.

Anyone else have any similar stories or experiences of giving their hair over to a specific cause moreso than general fashion statement? :D

“He’s not the kind of kid who would ever have a Mohawk,” said his mother Lisa
i stopped reading from here out of sheer anger, this article pissed me off, i mean the idea is cool but RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE!
LOL Yeah, I'll totally admit to also being pissed at the parents' approach to things, but I found it an interesting article to share anyhow. At very least to try to get some discussion going on the topic or similar.
Not mohawk related, but Worlds Greatest Shave happens every year in Australia to raise money for the Leukemia Foundation.
Those that don't want to shave their head can have their hair coloured.

I'm very very tempted to let them shave off my mohawk if it will raise a lot of money. Otherwise they can colour each of the spikes.
Might have to get in contact and maybe even find out if my work wants to get involved.
